Thank you so much to the team at The Stables for making me so welcome whilst I stayed. I was travelling for work and this was a home away from home. Beautiful setting, amazing room, helpful staff, a bed so comfortable that I nearly missed the delicious breakfast. Not only would I recommend The Stables, I also cannot wait to return.

Day of travel: this rather aggressive email arrived. "....Please note that check in is between 4pm - 8pm only. - please ensure that you have allowed sufficient time for your journey, as 'stuck in traffic' will not extend the check in time for you. If you are not going to arrive between these times, we would request that you cancel your booking with us immediately, as you will not be able to check in outside of these times. Kind regards Stables B&B" I liked the "kind regards" to soften the hostile sentiment. We decided not to cancel and forfeit the paid fees. External: why leave 5 large sheets of plywood scattered outside accompanied by an old paint pot. Simple tidying would give a far better impression. Internal: tired plumbing coupled with distinctly diy fittings looked in need of an overhaul. Breakfast: missing many expected choices. Fruit, yoghurt, granola, juices other than orange etc. Breakfast bar stark in its absences. (Family) Room: huge and quiet. However if you have small children the first floor windows are at ground level, top hinged and potentially dangerous if opened for fresh air. Overall: sold on its location and could have made up for any of the above issues with the charm of the hosts and a feeling that they were on the way to improving. Sadly the overall impression was similar to that on receiving our "welcome" email.
