The Cross Keys is perfectly situated in the town centre for a visit to Saffron Walden. We had our evening meal and breakfast along with our overnight stay in room 7, the food was very good and probably the best part. You have to park about 500m away and pay in a public car park (despite booking.com saying parking available). The room is annexed outside and up a steel unlit spiral staircase which will definitely be an issue for some. The room was nice enough but the floorboards are extremely creaky and the extractor noisy during the night. There was a fault with the main room light causing it to flicker so we didn’t use it and the shower absolutely soaks the plastered (not tiled) wall.

One night stay
Our stay at the cross keys was comfortable if I could take the bed home with me I would.It seems to close early on a Saturday night so you have to use the stairs at the back of the pub to get to your room.Breakfast was enjoyable and the staff friendly we will stay again.

Great location
This Hotel is in a great location, a short walk to all the historic attractions. The hotel itself is very quaint being over450 years old, great beams and old feel. The food was great,and the staff very helpful . I would recommend staying

Our 1 night stay in Saffron Walden
We had a very warm welcome and the room was really cosy. I love the original wood beams and general character of the place. The breakfast was excellent with a great selection of choices and good coffee too.
