Staff went above and beyond as we forgot to bring toothpaste and they purchased some for us! Room was wonderful and breakfast was great. A wonderful stay, fully reccomend!

We came back! There are plenty of cheaper options, but for a little bit extra this is well worth it. Our room was small (in the eaves) but cosy, quiet, and clean. Nice bathroom too, although the very comfortable bath means that in the morning you either go full out with a bath or deal with a hand-held shower.... take note! The pub/restaurant is fab - great range of beers etc, wonderful evening menu and a very sound traditional breakfast thrown in. What's not to like?

There were cheaper options, but after looking at the pictures and especially the menu we decided to spend a little more and treat ourselves. SO glad we did! Our top floor room in the eaves was small but comfortable, very clean, , and very well equipped - lots of tea, coffee, hot drink options, with enough for multiple cups, plenty of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner etc. A wonderful choice of real ales, and dinner was absolutely outstanding. Wonderful choice on the menu, we had top quality meat, really well cooked, with delicious vegetables, and a great dessert. No wonder the place was packed with locals! A five star breakfast included with the room rounded things off. Very friendly helpful staff, and thank you for your advice with our house-hunt! We've just added a criterion to our search - within 'dinner distance' of The Recruiting Sergeant! We'll definitely be back!

All the staff were very polite and happy to help. We had taken the pub over for 3/4 hours and then moved outside into the marquee where we were given blankets and constant hot water bottles. Excellent attention to details . We will definitely use again. Thank you .
