A very good bar atmosphere and popular with the locals. Pleasant staff. Staying there was more of an inhospitable experience. Bedrooms are up a staircase so be aware of this people with hip or knee issues. Room was light and very clean with twin beds, however, I slept on one where the mattress was covered with a piece of old foam and a folded piece of material was used to make the mattress level. Not a good night and uncomfortable pillows. Shower was good and plenty of tea making facilities. Breakfast is extra and this was only just passable. Eggs florentine where the eggs were set and the English breakfast had a hard grilled tomato, fried crusts of brown bread and barely edible tiny mushrooms. Help yourself to tea at the counter in teacups and coffee is powdered sachets. Not a word of enquiry about how the stay was or whether the breakfast was all right. Very disappointed as wished to recommend to family and friends somewhere to stay.

A good place to base yourself but a little dear for a tired looking building. The room was clean & tidy but although the shower was clean, it wasn't the best as it lacked power, the beds (we were in the twin bed room) were very soft for our liking. We had breakfast (an extra £10 pp) which was no better than OK, cheap sausages and greasy is the best compliment we can pay here, the tables looked like they could do with a clean too. We struggled to get into the inner door when we returned from a wedding reception at the golf club, so did other people who had returned after us, obviously a minor lock fault but this appeared to be laughed at by staff / the owner. I'm afraid that this old building is looking tired and needs a little tlc injected.

Stayed here for a night to hike the Seven Sisters Coast Walk. Perfect location near the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful. A very pleasant pub.
