The Tavern Bed and Breakfast

Descent stay. Friendly staff.

We were just staying for one night. I'd read some of the reviews and wasn't expecting much but think that the bad reviews for this place are unjustified. Yes you enter the property by the back gate and stairs which isn't the most flattering view of the property but not an issue, more difficult with small kids or the elderly of course. You can park right outside for free and it's less than a 5 min walk to the centre of town. The room itself was large, clean with flat screen TV, WiFi and tea and coffee. Bed was ok, mattress not the best but fine for one night, slept well. Breakfast is continental, it's fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee, orange juice, cereal, crumpets, small croissants etc. It's basically a little help yourself station. The two things they could do better, a little eating area for breakfast and to get rid of some marks on the bedroom wall. I believe that they are currently decorating so may be on course to do this. Overall for £50 it met my expectations and I would stay again. If you are staying here please don't expect the Ritz for budget prices. This place is comfy and fine for what we needed, breakfast was nice. It would definitely be better to enter the b&b through the front door if possible.

My son and I were visiting friends. We had a twin room which was fine. There are two showers and two lavatories for the 7 rooms, so no contention we didn’t have breakfast which included cereal, bread and fruit bowl. As we walked to Wetherspoons nearby. We’ll be back when staying in Blyth.
