Venue Ok but disappointed with Agoda not permitting refund due to cancellation policy

We were generally pleased with this accomodation. A comfortable 3 star country motel in good location. Our frustration has been in failing to obtain any helpful response from Agoda regarding a request for goodwill & exemption to cancellation refund policy. Dealing with AI chatbots not helpful. We needed to cancel original booking 1966983497 due to catastrophic fire weather conditions in Victoria at short notice. We even called motel to notify them. Simply not safe to travel by car on original booking date, so we cancelled & rebooked SAME venue for a later date, when travel safety not an issue. We have been charged twice for a one night stay at this motel. We were hoping to have goodwill extended to us by Agoda due to unforeseen circumstances out of our control. The motel manager heard our concerns but was unable to assist due to booking being made through 3rd party. We know we accepted terms & conditions when making original booking but are saddened about the lack of compassion. We are likely to consider using alternative booking services in the future.
