This hotel is in the centre of Carlisle and has a free carpark with ample spaces. The room.was lovely and large only slight downside was the noise we could hear from the pub 2 floors down but this didn't go on much after midnight. Breakfast was buffet style and there was a good selection. Overall for a night away in Carlisle this was an ideal choice.

Budget hotel our twin room was clean but dated. We were on back of hotel and friends at front of it said very noisy windows not double glazed. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Fantastic location, opposite the Station & Spoons (don’t you judge, nice big pub, friendly locals, cheap coffee, perfect for a one night connection killing some time). Hotel itself - first off, the nicest staff, met by & had a good old chat with the lovely Romanian lady at the desk who I apologise for forgetting the name of. All other staff I met, traffic too. Room - single one, very clean. All mod-cons, big TV well-positioned, laminated-notice advising how to heat the room if needed. Perfect. Ridiculously good water pressure on the shower - but no plugs in bath or basin. Wasn’t & didn’t bother Reception about it, but if they’re listening.. Downsides - corridor-doors that SLAM. It was low-occupation but if their place was busy I’d have shouted out more than the once. Paper thin walls - bloke on the lower floor had his TV on full blast from word-go. When anyone complained he screamed & shouted, from inside the room, on more than one occasion shouting “YOU FUCKING DILDO” to anyone he thought might be hearing. Curious that on entering the room for the 1st night, 1st thing I spotted was a pair of yellow ear-plugs on the middle of the bed. 2nd night of the 2 I stayed, the volume was reduced somewhat, maybe a coincidence that a team of contractors checked-in that day. No dildo talk that night. Pillows too squashy, for me. Thought about popping down to Reception for a firmer option, thought better of it. Didn’t go for the £11 breakfast (see above, spoons, £3 & bottomless coffee). Looked nice on the poster. There were 3 options on all the sites, roughly the same price - best prices on Agoda, kids, my go-to. Checked out the other 2 whilst strolling Carlisle & I’m swear-wording glad I stayed here at the County rather than the other 2 - dildos, plugs or not. At least one of them I might have felt the need to pack a sharpened weapon to be able to feel safe to make it through the night.! Noticed they let dog-owners in. Not big on dogs, cats &/or rabbits for me, but I like that. Met a lovely dog on the stairs & equally nice owner, charming lady. Lift was being fixed, but always entertaining watching dogs doing stairs. So the County, yeah go for it.
