First of all, the time I chose to visit Ooty was not ideal. It’s the peak of summer, and I must admit there was a huge demand for hotels and cottages. Finally, I found one under the brand name Treebo Hotels. Since I’ve had a good experience with this brand earlier, I trusted that Treebo wouldn’t disappoint me. This time, it didn’t—but at the same time, I would like to share some facts. The hotel and its premises are superb, located on a hilltop near Tulip Elkhill (where I stayed a few years back). The approach road to Windsor Heights is somewhat challenging, with some broken stretches, but it’s manageable. The hotel itself is well constructed—I really wonder how they managed to build it on a hilltop. The property offers a very good mountain view and has a serene atmosphere. I was allotted a room on the third floor, which was fine for a two-day stay. Now, coming to the drawbacks: the food at the restaurant is not good. The complimentary breakfast feels like an experiment on your taste buds. The food has an oily taste (I’m not sure what oil they use—possibly groundnut oil with a pungent flavor), and this unpleasant taste is noticeable in most dishes. Leaving aside the food, the major issue I faced was with the water supply. The water stopped at around 10:30 PM. We had just returned after dinner and found there was no water. I immediately called the manager at reception, and he assured me it would be restored in a few minutes. I’m not sure when it came back—I fell asleep—but when I checked at midnight, it was available. However, the issue didn’t end there. The next morning, during checkout time, after having food at the restaurant, I returned to the room and again found there was no water. I had no choice but to use a 5-liter Bisleri can. This is something I had to share. Overall, everything else is fine—the location is good, and the manager and staff were helpful. However, the hotel needs to seriously improve its food quality and address the water supply issues, as such interruptions are not acceptable.

Good hotel with excellent tea plantations view on the opposite hill. Pros: Location, Big rooms, price and staff, tasty food Cons: front desk don't know simple math, can improve on the break fast variety, waiting due to medium dining area as it can accommodate max of 20-25 guests, cleanliness, approach road to the venue
