The Best part of this family-run hotel is its staff. They were all lovely people. The hotel and my room were clean. However, there were some downsides. After the first night, the receptionist asked if I wanted my room cleaned today. I said yes. When it hadn't been cleaned at 5 o'clock when I returned for my activities, I called the front desk, and was told the housekeeper would be by shortly. At 8 o'clock, when the housekeeper had not arrived, I called again. I was told the housekeeper had gone home. So no one cleaned my room; however, there was no offer of compensation for a service paid for, but not received. I paid extra for the breakfast, which in no way was worth it. There were greens, hard-boiled eggs, a plate of tomatoes, some cheeses, and some plain bread. Not my idea of a breakfast I would pay extra for. There were no other options. And lastly, the toilet paper holder fell off on first use, and the hairdryer socket was falling out of the wall. These are things I would expect the housekeeper to report to maintenance to have repaired. To their credit, the maintenance man came up immediately upon my reporting. But these should have been addressed before a guest arrived. So I am torn about how to review this hotel: thumbs up or thumbs down. The staff and the cleanliness were thumbs up. But the aforementioned items were a thumbs down.

Very nice hotel to stay. Only downfall is the breakfast - it is the same food everyday- there needs to be some sort of variety of food available for people.

Honest review — November 2025 stay (Monday to Saturday) I was genuinely impressed with Velmer Hotel. I’d heard about it from family over the years but never considered staying until now, and I honestly don’t know why. Once I saw the standard of the hotel, I realised I should have given it a chance much sooner. I was in Cyprus for business rather than leisure, and Velmer worked perfectly as a base. The hotel is modern, comfortable, and most importantly, spotless. I didn’t get the chance to try the restaurant, but everything else left a very positive impression. I’ll certainly be choosing Velmer first on my next trip to North Cyprus. A couple of points to note: there is a residential apartment block directly behind the hotel, and some of the residents can be loud, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Cars arriving late with music playing and people talking loudly was noticeable. However, on quieter nights the peace is absolute bliss, waking up to open fields, sea views, and even a glimpse of the old iron ore port brought back childhood memories of where my dad used to work. Overall: a great stay, excellent value, and a place I now feel confident recommending.

As a hiker, I stay here often as it's close to mountain trails, the seaside, the university, and local villages. It is quiet, clean, comfortable, and peaceful. There is a bus/shared taxi stop at the university. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

We had a great stay at Velmer hotel. The owners and staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the breakfast was very nice. Free parking is also available. Thank you for a wonderful stay :)
