Hotel Continental has a great location and a nice view, and for the price it’s honestly hard to beat anywhere in Iasi, which is why I ended up staying twice back to back. It’s also worth knowing this isn’t just an old building, it’s a genuine piece of history. The building is listed as a National Historic Monument in Romania and the hotel first opened its doors back in 1914, so you’re staying in something over a century old, which explains a lot. That said, the age shows. There’s a lingering smell in the halls and rooms that doesn’t fully go away. The bathroom needs work too: no shower curtain, just a tub, so showering turns into a balancing act to keep water off the floor. If you want a bath, don’t count on it, the plug doesn’t seal so the water won’t hold. None of this ruins the stay, but go in knowing what you’re getting. For the price, the location, and honestly the history behind the place, it’s still worth it, and worth going back to.
