The Astor Hotel Motel

$*** for a small, single room. Yes, the hotel is very well located, at one end of the main street and the bar and bistro are quite good. The room? Well, it could be described as tired or shabby but I would call it severely neglected. I suspect many people would be put off by the peeling paint, missing drawer front, cracked walls and missing light fixtures. On a positive note, the room was fairly clean, the hot water was good, the air-conditioner, while noisy, did actually work and the bed was adequately comfortable. The photos online are a little misleading. I suspect the last time this room (number ***) had any renovation attention was somewhere in the late 1980s. Since then a lick of paint was not holding up in covering damp problems in the bathroom walls. I can honestly say, it was the saddest hotel room I have ever stayed in anywhere in Australia. Such a pity when the rest of the place is so good.However, if you are on a budget and you want a convenient location, then you get what you pay for. My suggestion would be when checking in at this hotel, asked to see the Room first.

Have stayed at Astor a few times and good place close to town centre, supermarket, nice restaurant and bar attached. Room size OK and clean, good value for money. Staff helpful, Wi Fi not great but worked. Sadly on our last stay the hot water did not work and was not fixed by the time we left..Unfortunate glitch but would still recommend as a place to stay.

Was good for what we needed. Car park can get very busy with tradies so try and check in as soon as you can to get a park in the car park.

Very clean and tidy rooms great value

Room was not very nice and did not resemble the pictures. Also, cleaning was not great.
