Casa Can Rufo de Rupit

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful heritage style home. It's architecture, both interior and exterior, is of the ancient period of this beautiful village. But the fixtures and appointments of its interior were comfortably modern. The bedroom and separate washroom were suitably sized and featured. We also enjoyed a comfortable and spacious living room. In the afternoon of the first day the owner had a contractor doing some minor work in the backyard. Two times I had to close the back door of the kitchen, fearing mosquitoes might enter and bother us later on. At 2:00 a.m., middle of the night, I was awoken and scared hearing scratching noise at the closed bedroom door. I nudged my husband. He turned on the light, which revealed a mouse scratching away at the door, trying to exit. He spent half an hour to eventually flush the mouse out of her bedroom, for which it retreated into the neighboring kitchen. I now know from where the mouse came. We alerted the owner by an email; shortly after while still in the middle of the night the owner came up to the kitchen to take control of the intrusion. The owner then left the back door open, with the hope the mouse would exit the house on its own. This did not give me full assurance. It was difficult for me to fall asleep for the rest of the night, still with residual discomfort of having a mouse in our bedroom. The next day we examined both the bedroom and the kitchen, of any remaining signs of the mouse. If this had happened in a reputable hotel, first it would never have happened, but if it did I know that most hotels would have offered a full refund for that first night stay. However, the owner of this B&B offered only a bottle of wine as compensation. Overall, the house offered beautiful architecture which gave us matching experience of this ancient Spanish village. It was unfortunate that we had our first night disrupted by an intruding mouse. Note, no harm came to the mouse. Regretfully, I can not say the same for my peace of mind that first night.
