Eventhough we stayed here during Hurricane Lala, the room was very nice. The power went out halfway through our stay, but we prepped beforehand and got some food/snacks to survive off of. The community kitchenette was fine. There were some simple, good breakfast foods that we had each morning. We bought our own cereal since we didn't see any there. After the power went out, we didn't use the fridge since the food inside was basically spoiled. We had friends nearby to endure the storm with during the day thankfully, but the latter nights were fairly warm, tried to sleep with the windows open, but not much wind came through, and we couldn't open them during the rain. I think the value would have been worth it more if the hurricane didn't mess up our vacation plans. Overall, I'd recommend it maybe for 2-3 nights max. It's close to Akaka Falls (5 mins) and about a 15-20 min drive into Hilo. Honomu is a quaint/quiet area for the most part. There's no in-house staff at the inn, but they're responsive through Agoda, call, or text if you need assistance.

Decent Stay...
