It was nice place to stay

My fiancé and I stayed here for his birthday trip to Sojo Spa Club and the general Edgewater area as we do annually. The hotel, when compared to those nearby, is much cheaper. You are lacking some amenities for that and the hotel is pretty bare bones. There's no pool anymore (though there used to be) and there's no true breakfast just juices and mini muffins. These aren't a priority to us so it doesn't affect my rating of the hotel. The staff is nice and helped us get a few things that were missing from our room when we checked in. Rooms are spacious enough for the hotel location and has a TV, fridge and decent HVAC (though I wish it went cooler then 68 degrees) The bed is a bit uncomfortable for me and my fiancé but we are very picky sleepers. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel as long as you get it for a good price compared to those basically next door as long as you aren't expecting a luxury stay. One side note, there's laundry in the 3rd and 5th floor. We happened to have the room that was directly across from the laundry machines and both nights someone was doing laundry well passed midnight. Which I thought was odd but I think this hotel is popular for construction workers. It was loud enough to wake me up but once I shut the door to the laundry room it was okay. The hotel should consider adding a sign to the door saying keep shut for that purpose.

“I can’t say it’s dirty, but it’s not very clean either. When I opened the door, there were batteries on the floor and gray stains in the bathtub. Also, it looked like the inside of the refrigerator hadn’t been cleaned, and there was some black residue inside. I think the bathroom would look much cleaner if the floor were wiped properly, but it doesn’t seem like the room was cleaned thoroughly. I didn’t mention it to the front desk during my stay, but I hope the room can be cleaned more carefully after check-out. However, the trash bins were emptied and the towels were replaced properly every day.”

This Inn is very nice and clean. The rooms are nice and spacious, and the staff is quite friendly. However, their booking process could use some tweaking- when I first went I paid in cash and I was instructed to put down a $50 security deposit that would be refunded to me once I checked out. I was under the impression that this was for the purpose of showing good faith being that I paid in cash, and if something happened to the room or I tried to commit fraud I suppose they'd have $50? I honestly don't really understand the full rational but the point is I did it. My next stay, I paid with my debit card, and I did everything online through this site. When I got to the hotel I they asked for my debit card and I thought it was for verification purposes, but they charged that $50 fee to my card without telling me. I didn't discover this until I went out for food and my card was declined. I couldn't really speak to anyone in charge of this process until the next day when I checked out in the morning, and I had a schedule to keep and basically had no travel money because of the $50 they took from my account. In the end the bus driver was nice and let me ride for free, but being put in that position because of a hidden fee at the inn, which I wasn't explicitly told about was ridiculous. I paid for the room on this site and I thought the transaction part of this situation was over. Being that I paid with card, I was told the money would be refunded to me within 10 business days, and I obviously didn't have the luxury of time. In the end the money did return to my account by the end of the day, but I didn't like being stressed out about the situation, and when I told the front desk person about it, I kinda had to fight him verbally so he'd take accountability for his associate's mistake, or rather, his associate's withholding of info. Maybe they thought it was a given, but every guest is different and should be properly informed of the process, especially when any further fees are involved. So Customer service-wise? Iffy. So yeah, anyone booking this place should be prepared to pay $50 on top of whatever you pay for the stay. They'll refund the cash immediately at check out if you paid with cash, but if you paid with a card, be prepared to wait to see that money again. Live & learn I guess, but yeah...Cool spot overall though.
