If you are looking to explore the real Bali, this is the spot!! I stumbled upon this guesthouse by accident and it was the absolute highlight of my Bali trip. I ended up staying 4 nights and would’ve stayed longer if I didn’t have a plane to catch. Kubu Baka is a hidden gem amongst the rice fields. Perfect to go for walks in the village and only a 40min scooter ride to some must-sees like Pura Besakih temple, Sideman area, numerous waterfalls, Ubud, etc. It’s the best of both worlds: being close to ‘attractions’ and being able to retreat in the peace and authenticity of what Kubu Bakas and the sweet hosts have to offer. I even helped planing rice: such a great experience. Next time I’m in Bali, I’ll be staying here again.

The location strikes a great balance—it's surrounded by peaceful countryside and nature, yet it's still conveniently close to the city. What truly made our stay memorable was the warm hospitality. Ari and everyone were incredibly accommodating, and you could genuinely feel their kindness and positive energy from the moment we arrived. They made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the breakfast. It was authentic, local, and a great way to experience the region's flavours. The property itself is calm, quiet, and perfect for anyone looking to unwind. We loved being surrounded by nature and the beautiful flower fields. Although we may have missed the peak blooming season, the scenery was still lovely and relaxing. They also offer a number of activities for you to try! Our only regret is that we stayed for just one night. We'd definitely love to come back and spend more time here!

Our host Adi and Sindi and their children, and family, are the most authentic people we met so far in our short time in Bali. Peaceful location, great nature scenery, great nature smell. This is a real farming village/town. The town is lesser known and not a hotbed for tourism, but that is what we wanted. This location is not that far, about 1 to 1.5 hrs from city, depending on traffic. Wish can stay longer to really disconnect but school is starting soon for our kids. Staying in 2 of the 5 houses means their close attention and care to us, and we feel the family closeness. They have a friendly rescue cat called 'coffee', it's dark brown almost black. Pet it gently when it comes near you. They also can organize tours for you! You can rest assured the tours will be safe and fun, they will take care of you and advise you properly.
