This hostlery is a godsend when you are travelling up north. Friendly, clean and comfortable. Dog friendly too. Only drawbacks are the stairs to the bedroom and no grass area around to toilet the dog in the middle of the night! But the benefits far outweigh the minor grumbles. We will be staying there again.

Lovely, friendly, cosy evening away
Our 2nd time returning to this hotel, this time finding out the hotel is under new management as of 9 weeks ago. Room spotless, bar area very quiet and cosy, very welcoming staff/management. Food was a limited menu, the only downfall of our stay, would be nice to see a more extensive menu. Staff catered to our every need. Like a home from home. Fire area in bar very welcoming, didn't want to leave at the end of the night. Super dog friendly. We will be returning in the very near future

Great find
Beautiful Inn,over 300 years old, so it’s full of charm and quirkiness, stayed for 2 nights whilst wife was receiving Rehab Physio at nearby centre The Inns staff are very attentive and extremely helpful. They serve fabulous food the meals we had were good size and amazing in presentation and lovely choices and what we ordered each time was very flavoursome really good value for money and hot when arrived which was quick. Rooms are immaculate and presented so as to be very inviting and everything provided to make stay comfortable and relaxing , which is wonderful after a journey HIGHLY recommend a stay , we will definately return.

Great for a short stay
Really nice local pub that’s not been ‘standardised’ so it retains its character. Lovely open fire burning even in April to take the edge off. Helpful staff. A fun friendly atmosphere.

Superb friendly staff room very clean and comfy and a fabulous chicken pie in the pub
