We just stayed overnight;I think that was enough to get the experience. The room was well-presented, clean and tidy. Complimentary juice and water in the mini bar was a nice touch. We booked a table for dinner and went to the adjoining bar beforehand for pre-dinner drinks. Nice barman and plenty of choice. We were shown to a table and chose a booth. There wasn't a lot of choice of mains (we don't usually have a starter) but I had the chicken and my husband the duck, with a side each of carrots and cauliflower. We waited for about an hour for the food to come. When it did finally arrive, it was tasty and well presented though we felt £16 for 6 carrots and half a cauliflower was a bit excessive. I had cheesecake which took a good 25 minutes to arrive and wasn't worth the £14 price tag. Overall the experience of dinner wasn't good. They'd not got the wine we'd requested and automatically add a service charge of 10% which I hate. I'm more than happy to tip good service but this wasn't good by any means. The waiter actually took the service charge off as he said that he thought our experience had been poor and apologised profusely whilst thanking us for being so calm and patient, but it wasn't his fault! One member of staff commented that it was like working in Fawlty Towers! The breakfast, conversely was excellent!

Amazing place
Stayed for a night for my birthday. Absolutely beautiful place to stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms are done up beautifully and so cozy. A great mix of history and luxury! 10/10. We will definitely be staying again. Thanks so much!
