Stayed for one night at room *** as a couple. When I booked it I was aware that this accommodation is a Victorian building and the deco would reflect this. The lounge , the halls , restaurant etc are as seen on website ,, however the room we stayed appeared more upto modern standards. Unfortunately we didn’t get a room with a bath tub but the walk-in shower was really nice and had very good water pressure. The room had the expected amenities such as tv , kettle , tea & coffee. The little milk capsules are never enough in any hotel I suppose but straight opposite from the hotel is a Co-op that you can buy more stuff if needed. On arrival we were given a fan without even having to request it the which was a god sent in this weather. There wasn’t a suite available on the night we booked but our double room was more than enough for a night’s stay with the lovely character 4-poster bed. One thing I wasn’t too happy about was the wi-fi as we could only see “Ascot Office” to connect but that wasn’t the network available to residents and I am assuming our room was a bit far from the free wi-fi network which may be available in other areas of the hotel. This didn’t really matter too much as the mobile signal was enough . The breakfast we had this morning was lovely which was cooked to order and they even have veggie options should you need it. There is plenty of toast , cereals , yogurts , juices , tea&coffee. The two ladies who served the breakfast were lovely and ever so helpful. No concerns regarding Never had any concerns regarding the cleanliness of the hotel all around. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel instead of more local hotels , was the fact that they were providing their own parking at the back of the hotel. Majority of the hotels I have seen , seem to direct you to private parking areas with £15-£20 cost daily. The hotel is 20-25 mins walking distance from city center. We didn’t need any Ubers or buses but if you have walking difficulties then you might need it. The staff provided us with a city map on arrival and gave simple directions but walking to town was pretty straight forward and I am assuming at this day and age we all have Google maps on mobiles anyway. Finally lovely June who was there to greet us on arrival and again there as we were leaving , definitely made a welcoming atmosphere. ( apologies to the young lady who also greeted us but I forgot her name - perhaps June’s granddaughter 🤷🏻‍♂️) I would have no doubts about booking this hotel again the near future .

Ascot house was very good , clean ,and a mint breakfast, not far to walk into town, have stopped there before , and they are very welcoming .

Ascot House is a lovely traditional guest house, welcoming & well run. The staff were very friendly & nothing was too much trouble. The room was nice with tea & coffee making facilities with a clean en-suite. The breakfast menu was good with lots of choice & was very well cooked. If you want an old styled hotel rather than a modern all looks the same place to stay then I highly recommend it. It’s located about 20mins walk from the city walls & has parking to the rear of the property. Really enjoyed our stay & would defiantly stay here again when we visit York again.

Breakfast is good! Staff are very nice! Free parking. The only drawback is u need to walk at least 15 mins to the city center.

We had a great one night stay at Ascot House. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The room was clean with a lovely bathroom and very convenient at the front of the house. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and ample with locally supplied bacon and sausages. The location is ideal, being only 15 to 20 minutes’ walk from the centre. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
