A good place for rest! Helpful staff! Room is clean!!

Yes! You read it correctly. The smell made us feel sick every time we had to walk across an area of carpet in the hallway to our room. We reported it numerous times yet the smell of stale vomit remained. The staff claimed it was cleaned. It wasn't! Can you imagine how we felt on the way to and from the Shepherds Rest restaurant for a meal to be faced passing this horrible smell for almost a week!? Nauseating! The cleaning staff had a strange habit of staring at people walking along that hallway which is a sign they knew too yet the stench remained. Pity as Premier Inn is usually good value and good quality and has air that can be breathed without feeling nausea. One man on reception was rather rude with his intrusive back chat towards others including my wife and I which was quite disturbing. The "new" wing of this building has magnetic operated fire doors yet no signs to say so. I and others closed them at times as it's obvious the absence of signs describing the operation of those doors was totally amiss. The reception tried to discuss this with me but I could see they were just towing the line and again, one of the staff was rather dismissive. Shepherds Rest had one staff member who essentially lacks manners when directing people to tables...pointing to tables and no smile....bad service. The cleaning of the toilets in the morning had a "warning wet floor" sign put inside the toilet...on top of the wet floor so dangerous and too late a warning. I almost broke my ankle as there's no sign outside to warn anyone. Overall I recommend the management take heed as an accident could cost Premier Inn an accident case in court. Staff just laughed but did move the sign to outside that day but it returned to inside the next morning. Safety and health at this Premier Inn are needing immediate attention.
