Prairie Hotel & Outback Lodge

The Prairie is exceptional. The rooms are elegant, spacious and clean, gorgeous bathroom and lovely “guest only” seating areas. The food is excellent, it’s presented beautifully and tastes delicious. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate. Thank you Ellie for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back once the Birdsville Track opens.

As we'd come from Arkaroola (a 2.75 hour drive away), Parachilna was the perfect one night stop-over before heading back home to Adelaide the next day. Having visited the Prairie Hotel almost 30 years ago, it was pleasing to see that not much had changed, but the bar area had been modernised. Staff and service was exceptional, as was the food. Dinner was awesome - Steak night. A very high quality steak for only $30 + $6 for a glass of Shiraz. The meal was Chef prepared and it was simply, as good as it gets. Fantastic taste & value. Breakfast was included in the price of the room, and meals were again, Chef prepared where you can select 2 items from a set menu ranging from having your eggs as you like, Chia yoghurt, croissant, muesli, bacon & egg in a Brioche roll, including coffee how you like eg: cappuccino etc and juice. We found our overnight stay relaxing, great food, great staff and a very comfortable room with a solid bed an we slept very well .... our room was a Heritage Room formerly part of the original building between the bar/meals area and the 'dugout' accommodation to the rear. All in all, a very positive experience, shared with other very nice travellers. Highly recommended.

Loved Prairie Hotel! Staff were friendly & helpful. Food was delicious. Beers from their brewery were great. Accomodation was very comfortable with gorgeous communal lounge & outdoor spaces. Will be back for sure.

Excellent 2 day stay with super hospitality.

Such a fantastic location, you feel like you are in another world. Having a drink looking out over the outback at sunset was something else! The room was clean and comfortable. Quite small, but that helped keep it warm and cosy. The shower only have it cold water one morning, which other guests mentioned too but apart from that, it was great. The food was excellent as well - the menu includes roo, emu, and camel, not only in their famous mixed grill, but in separate dishes like the emu liver pate and sweet and sour kangaroo tail. The only slight disappointment was the value of the long feast. At $85pp I felt you didn't quite get the same value of food compared with buying the dishes separately. Overall though, a beautiful stay.
