Drake Bay Getaway Resort by Sandglass

The rooms are immaculate and the views are spectacular. The food is also delicious. The only negative thing is the hike up to the room. We are both fit and active hikers, but at the end of a long day or in the heat of the sun, its a trek up the dirt road and then stairs.

This place is phenomenal. The staff is amazing. The view is to die for. The food … chefs kiss !! I am just in awe at how I woke up every morning in the Bromeliad bungalow. I felt like I was on honeymoon!. I ventured out to get food a few times but hindsight I should’ve stuck with them. Their food was the best and better priced by far. I was skeptical because when I called / email to confirm my stay they never pick up or respond. I was coming from a different hotel, know that you check in at the restaurant near the bottom side! . I am so sad that sandglass is demolishing the bungalows and building a hotel instead. If you can go this year, you should. You won’t regret it. Bring natural bug repellent, and comfortable shoes. Get your legs ready, the hike back up the stairs to the room is 277 steps (to the bromeliad). Worth it :)

Beautiful location with great views Kitchen staff was lovely Communication with the property was difficult prior to arrival if not nonexistent. Multiple emails sent to see if we could get recommendations for arrival transportation. Even Agoda had a difficult time. In the end, it was Pacheco tours that saved us with an airport ride! Location isn’t easy to access. Taxi dropped us off as close as possible by a bridge because the access road was washed out in a flood months ago. Our dinner at the hotel ended up being 3 hours and costly. There are more inexpensive food options closer by. Staff was overall very friendly upon arrival (including the two dogs Fay and Rufus). However, we had no help with our luggage on departure despite having verbal confirmation the previous night. We ended up carrying our luggage down the steep hill and steps in the dark with our two kids. Overall, great site but somethings to improve upon.
