Magic Hills Bali - Magical Eco-Luxury Lodge

Excellent, unique accommodation. Very clean, pleasant and secluded stay in tbe middle of nature. Downside is the absense of nearby restaurants and accessibility of the resort itself. The onsite restaurant is very limited in variety. The dinner portion was good. But the complementary breakfast was small in portion. The staff in friendly and accommodating.

First of all - the place itself is absolutely lovely, quite literally magical. Very spacious, facilities worked like a charm (spare for the projector that wouldn't log us into any of our accounts - and we saw a long line of previous guests trying the same). The pool water was in fact too cold to enjoy, but oh well. The shower and the tub were spectacular. Not having the AC was not an issue at all, it's not that hot up in the mountains, especially at night, and we didn't have problems with bugs either. However - there's noise at the parking lot that kept me awake 2/3 nights we were there. There's no one at the reception desk overnight, so the 2nd night I actually walked out to ask these people to quiet down. We were later greeted with car doors slamming, and even honking of cars on their way out. Needles to say, I was not amused at all. Been texting the WhatsApp contact number as the situations unraveled, and all they had were profuse apologies. They even tried to blame the noise on guests who were going for the volcano hike, which was not true (spare for maybe closing the car doors) - it was the drivers picking them up and whoever else it was that lingered around. They also smoked which carried over to where we slept. On the other hand, we prebooked several day trips with them and had everything confirmed weeks ahead of time, only for them to start sending different, wrong, and confusing information prior to our arrival. I literally spent hours texting on the phone, when I prebooked exactly so as to avoid last-minute anything, we just wanted to relax and go with the flow. They also had no idea about any of the details for any of the trips - what to bring came down to our common sense. Given the lack of sleep, we had to make some changes on the go, which they said was no problem at all and confirmed the changes, only to again send something completely different practically hours later and stress me out all over again and again cost me hours on the phone clarifying what's already been confirmed by them. They even said they confirmed it with the driver, when it fact the driver said he was notified last minute to pretty come pick us up. That trip was booked was for the last day, and we said we'd go upon checkout at noon. They failed to tell us that we should leave by 9am at the latest for that particular trip, as it's very long, which cost us missing half of the activities as everything closed or got too dark. Also, the rice field that was a part of that trip was a complete tourist trap - hoards of people lining up to take photos in particular spots of a completely artificial landscape with blasting music. It's like an amusement park with like 10m2 patch of rice growing by the walkway. Their food was absolutely spectacular and we loved the fact we could just enjoy it by our little pool instead of going anywhere. But they even messed up our final receipt at the end, and I had to have them fix it 3 times - even though the mistakes would have been at their expense. No discounts, or at least a complimentary drink or something for the fact we couldn't sleep. Overall, given I chanced upon a very good deal for this booking I'm happy we stayed they (again, the huts are literally magic), but given the organizational chaos and stresses this caused and lack of sleep due to noise I'd seriously reconsider staying there again. Don't get me wrong, the staff is very kind and lovely, just seem to lack the skills or sufficient time to run the place properly. We probably would have been better off just staying in our entire stay there, or planning trips on our own.

The staff is sweet and helpful, the place is amazing the only problem there will is since its in a jungle you can’t go out after 5pm, the food there is below average and overpriced and if you are scared of insects you’ll probably not be able to sleep the whole night because the insect noises are way too loud.

Good
