The local staff and quiet majestic views of the rainforest made this place a really memorable stay. While you may experience higher volume of bug bites during the monsoon season and the dorm may feel stuffy and dusty, the rustic spacious vibe of the entire place helps to ease those issues. There many areas with vast views of the rainforest where you can do birdwatching or simply bask in the sun. Do note that the outdoor wooden bathrooms are only for villa bookings. dorm sitting toilets are bricks with tile flooring and has good flushing but clogs if toilet paper is thrown in. Suggest the sign that reminds users not to throw toilet paper be shifted to the door so it can be seen when the user is seated facing the door. Bibi and Sila are really helpful, warm and friendly, providing me suggestions for my itinerary. They made me felt very at home, including the lady staff who cleans the dorms is really nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for an authentic Sandakan experience in the jungle.

Although basic, things do work and everything is jungly and rustic. Not the folks craving a glam commode.

This retreat offers a perfect escape with stunning views and a beautiful garden that enhances the overall experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. While the cleanliness could use a little more attention, the facilities are well-maintained and add great value to your stay. Plus, the transport options make exploring the area easy and convenient. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway!

Great location, great staff and good food! I was on a budget so booked the dorm, unfortunately the dorms fans were not strong enough for me as I was just getting to hot. The dorms fans room is very spacious with about 6 bunk beds, good mosquitoes nets. The toilets and shower rooms are just downstairs and plenty of them with hot water. Obviously being out in the sticks it’s a bit rustic vibe and there are going to be noises and insects etc. They have a shuttle bus to get places for a small fee of 5MR each way or the grab is not that much more if needed. Free tea, coffee and water. They accept card, cash and QR payments (Moreta App) Bring cash for the activities out and about too.

From the second we got here, it’s been like living a dream, it’s tranquil, it’s peaceful.. they serve breakfast which is included and it’s delicious, they have a restaurant serving lunch and dinner, which is also great. The staff cannot do enough for you, they are so lovely, so helpful, they go out of their way to ensure your stay is smooth, asking if you want the shuttle bus (which is included for free!!), they ask if you’d like to pre-order dinner. This place deserves more than 5 stars, it’s soooo beautiful. Theres lots of dogs around too, which made our stay even better. Thankfully we still have 3 days here, been here 3 days already, if I had the time, I would extend! I would absolutely comeback here and would highly recommend if you’re in Sepilok, it’s so close to the orangutan and bears too! Thank you so much to all the staff, you have been a delight and so so helpful, thank you for making our stay rememberable! If you stay here, don’t forget to feed the local doggos! ❤️
