This is a very cool spot in need of some capital improvements. Want to feel like you’re backpacking in the early 2000s? You’ve come to the right place. Pros The location cannot be beat; it’s in the woods right next to the river and a short walk to the cave Staff are nice Although I did not avail of them, theres seems to be many packages of tours to various caves, ranging from easy to intense Cons Wifi only available in the restaurant; no signal in rooms Hot water is only available in the rooms from 5pm. It is no exaggeration to say that it takes at least 5 minutes for hot water to flow. Although the water is likely pumped from the river, who knows how many liters of it flows before it gets hot enough to shower? Despite the size of the property, the huts are packed tightly together. One can easily hear the conversations of one’s neighbors through the thatched walls. Verdict: Although the spot is nice, the accomdation experience is subpar, especially considering that this is one of the more expensive places in the area. At this price point, they need to get some WiFi routers and electric shower heating units. Although it’s nice to visit, I cannot recommend this place to stay.

We loved our stay at Cave Lodge!! We stayed in one of the cabins, it was clean and very cosy and had a lovely view over the river! There were some mosquitoes in the room so a net over the bed would have been handy! The main cabin was really stunning, with a big fire in the middle which is lit in the evenings, the place is full of charm! We did the full day kayaking and caving tour through the hostel and it was one of the best things we have done whilst travelling South East Asia! The guides take you where no other tourists go and are so knowledgeable about the cave systems, you can tell they really love what they do! They provide a local guide for each persons kayak and bring a long water and lunch! We also loved the food here in the evenings, we had an Indian style curry which was delicious! They have a huge menu and cater for both meat eaters and vegetarians! I could write so much more about this lovely place, would recommend!

I have stayed at Cave Lodge many times over the past several years. Its one of the most authentic and peaceful places I have ever stayed. The resources for exploring the area are endless. Returning to the lodge after a day exploring has its own unique feel that will continue to bring me back. The family is wonderful as well.

This is the third time I have stayed here. Last time the staff were great and everything was good. This time the staff had changed (maybe low season). Very pushy lady trying to plug the kayak tour obviously getting a commission. Food very oily and nothing like the last two visits. Room very dusty and fan hadn't been cleaned in a long time. We both got really sore throats from the dust / fan combination. Hope they get nicer staff soon. Heard that the owner was away when I visited. Some bungalows desperately need repairing and updating
