Sumba Beach House

The drive is (very) long. The staff are excellent - they will make you feel well looked after. Make no bones about it you are in for a relaxing time! You will be sharing the bar/restaurant with many - some who visit daily to use the Starlink wifi and take over the comfy chairs and loungers. Food options will be reduced too if many others eat there also. Unfortunately your rooms aren't far enough away to be considered private (people use the path to your room to get to the bar) however the rooms are sufficiently appointed and comfortable. You may also be stuck with no boat, or not be particularly happy with the options provided. Its a great place to stay if you want to do nothing for a while!

Came to surf but was too big for me. Really enjoyed just relaxing, walking on very long beach, watching the ocean, reading. So enough for the non-surfers. Unbeatable location. I liked that another resort is right next door and walked in for good espresso style coffee every day. Word has it the fancy resort behind does excellent meals with a minimum spend for outside guests. Nothing else really around but enough to be able to mix it up a little for meals, a cold beer or coconut at Corner Bar. Staff... the standout. Jeni, Leonie, Eva, Yubi, Tius. Delightful and always ready to do whatever they can for you. Very special. Small room but thoughtfully presented. Bathroom was another standout. Thanks for the small touches that make a big difference.

Sumba beach house was a real treat. the location is superb, the facilities impecable, and Jenny at the bar makes the best cocktails. Comparatively to other indonesian destinations Sumba is quite pricey, but I would return there in a flash. There aren't many places to eat around, so a more expanded menu (my partner is vegan) would be welcomed. also many of the dishes weren't available on the menu (everything with fish - which I love). After 4 days there (breakfast, lunch and diner) the menu really felt limited.

Terrific stay! Staff is amazing especially bar people serving as concierge and every other way possible. Skip the massage, tho… The rest is beautiful. For swimming - walk 150 meters left where the boats lay on the sand, it has less seaweed and stones, much more safe to enter water in low tide. I’d be glad coming back 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
