This hotel is very novel in its lay out and design. We loved the room and the private pool area. The restaurant upstairs is very nice and I can’t tell you how amazing the food is at this restaurant. There was not a meal that we didn’t thoroughly enjoy. They organised a special dinner for my husband for his birthday and it was absolutely divine! They also decorated our room, which I loved, as we’re usually away for my birthday and I always get that special treatment so it was nice for him to be spoiled for a change. The downstairs bar is a wonderful place to sip cocktails in the pool or subbed and watch the sunset, amazing view! It was very easy to get to town and only took about 5 mins on the tuk tuk. Don’t walk up that hill, just walk along the front of the hotel along to the Republican hotel through to the main road to grab a tuk tuk, you’ll thank me later but beware this can only be done during the day afternoon before the tide rises as it comes right up to the hotel. The beach is not really a swimming beach but that didn’t fuss us. Ok the negative. We had a wonderful spa treatment and were very thankful the hotel was not full of guests as there is no privacy and it is in the open air with whisky curtains on three sides but you face the way that is open so rolling over means you put on a show for anyone walking past. They must find a better solution for this as this would put many off and the ladies were so very good at their massages, you would be mad not to get one! The second and last negative is the price. This hotel is very costly per night and I simply don’t see how, it is lovely but it is in now way worth the $$’s we paid and had it not been for a special occasion and being unsure of El Nido and where to stay we but the bullet and added another night but only because we couldn’t be bothered changing hotels knowing we had to be out early to catch a boat the next day. So would we stay again, most likely we wouldn’t if the price remained so high but if that was brought down then yes, we would. If they stay high, we would try elsewhere. Thank you to all the amazing staff, who we could not fault, they were all so attentive and polite. We will be back El Nido as you were delightful!
