Compton Guest House

I recently stayed at a guesthouse in Wimbledon. The location was excellent, with easy access to public transport for getting around London. The price was also reasonable for the area, which makes it a good option if you’re on a budget. That said, the setup felt more like a hostel than a traditional guesthouse. The bathroom with toilet was very small, and in one of them the shower rod kept coming loose from the pipes. The facilities in general could do with some maintenance. I stayed in a single bed within a shared two-bed room, but to access it I had to pass through a four-bed room to reach both my room and the bathroom. This may not be ideal for everyone. There were a few basics provided—some instant coffee, mugs/glasses, and a hot/cold water dispenser in the entrance hall—but small touches were missing, such as spoons to actually use these items. On the positive side, the hostess who checked me in was very friendly, and the place was reasonably clean overall. A £5 refundable deposit is required for the front door key, which was a straightforward process. In my view, this guesthouse is best suited for younger travellers or those on a tight budget who mainly need a place to sleep and don’t mind a hostel-style experience.
