“I am visiting KEA island the past 20 years systematically for 2-3 days each time, living at my friends’ houses on the island. Karthea was recommended to me by my friend that is an island resident with the “disclaimer” on this place’s history on the unavailability of anything else on the dates we were visiting. Upon arrival, to the island I visited the hotel around 12.30pm to ask if we can leave our luggage and / or if the room is ready. The receptionist knew my name and told me that the room is ready (in Greek), then she noticed that my partner is foreigner and went to the the hotel senior (manager / owner, unknown), after “eye inspection” she turned to the receptionist and used these exact phrase “tell them to come later”. I thanked them and continued my day until we arrived very late in the afternoon from the beach to check in. Upon entering the room we noticed that there was no wifi. We raised the issue, they declined it and pretended there is. I kept a video of all my devices that tried to find a wifi network and no relevant hotel network was coming up at all. We gave up on wifi after 2-3 efforts asking for help as it was pointless. This is when I thought that the nightmare is over, but it was not. The same day - we went out with my friends (residents in the island) and due to absence of wifi we stayed at my friend’s house to finish office remote work until 3am after midnight. When we returned to the hotel just for sleep. Next day, my partner was caught by a member of the staff asking her about “sounds” at night indicating “some physical activity”. For the record, there was none due to health issues I have, but still, this was not the way or their right to ask. She is a foreigner so she replied normally, thinking this is something normal, and saying that we arrived at 3am and slept until 8am when we left again to visit friends. When I realized what was the context of conversation I intervened, in our native Greek language, and confronted the member of the staff for the behavior. I immediately asked to receive formal complaint and open the security footage or any other electronic mean for justification of these statements as these are intruding to our privacy and defamatory, amongst others. She only said “Ok ok, matter is closed”. I recorded the entire incident to have enough proof of the process and facts. I contacted my lawyers in Greece to hand over the material and history and asked them to proceed with a case after I am out of the island and I feel safe. - due to the history of this place. Long story sort. The place has no wifi, it is grossly outdated and not renovated for decades (you cannot even shower properly), the bedsheets are reused so badly that there is no cotton left, there is no bed cover and the blankets were filthy (they didn’t even smell washed before use). The behavior of staff is reason for litigation on any occasion. Want more?”
