“Hotel Fernand is a quirky, lovely small place in a great city-center neighborhood. It is hidden on a very quiet side-street that is an easy ten minute walk from interesting restaurants, bars and cafes. My room was small, but decorated well with first class linens. Breakfast is included, and quite nice. However, Ahmed, the host and owner, is like no other( and I’ve travelled to Europe for forty years). He personally contacts prior to arrival, and, since he and his wife live in the building, has total knowledge of all of the great places nearby; things that no internet site knows. I have never been more pleased with a stay. If you want the Intercontinental, this is not the place for you, but if you want to really experience the new Bordeaux, I think you will love it. One caveat: there is no lift , and the stairs are narrow if you have physical difficulties. ”
